plate from the pic in the original post shouldn't be there, because the holes are recessed beneath it. This would give enough clearance so that the cam sprocket bolts aren't hit by the CAS:  However, this isn't the case on the original engine ('90, received it with car, but has never been installed). The holes are not recessed, and looks as if a metal plate was there: . The engine I'm working on now was in the car when purchased, and runs, unknown year, I believe its a 90-93. Or did, before I attempted the 120k maintenance 5 years ago. Did I make a stupid mistake and put an extra piece on, erroneously comparing the two engines? I'm assuming the sprockets changed in later years?
Can't remember if that plate was there in the first place when I originally did the maintenance years ago. I know to search but keep getting timed out.
